J.B. Vrients purchased the rights and plates for Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum and Epitome at the beginning of the 17th Century and issued enlarged editions of each, adding a number of exceptional maps to each of these works. The Vrients editions of Ortelius' atlas are generally regarded as the most sought after by collectors.
